Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in Child Development at San Jose State University, where I also returned in order to earn teaching credentials in multiple subjects. Following college, I immediately got a job teaching in a public school. Over a number of summers, I attended classes to further my abilities teaching Math and Writing, and eventually I became an instructor for other teachers looking to do the same. I spent one year as a Math coach for the district, during which I assisted 15 different teachers to improve their teaching strategies and also facilitated new Math instruction that was then trained throughout the district. In my time as a teacher, I have always made myself available to tutor any students who were struggling and desired extra assistance. I held an after school reading club and also often worked individually with students who were in the process of learning English as a second language. I am comfortable teaching subjects across the spectrums of both English and Math all the way up through Algebra. I also have experience assisting students as they prepare for standardized exams like the ISEE and SSAT. In my free time, I enjoy losing myself in a good book.
